Doreen hit the international speed skating scene in 1964. Botterill was one of the four Canadians to compete at the Innsbruck, Austria competition. Jack McCulloch was the 1890 Manitoba champion, but his speed skating career didn't end there In 1893 he became the Canadian amateur champion, in 1896 the American amateur championship was his. At the 1897 world championships in Montreal he won FOUR events. After these wins he traveled across North America showing off his skating and inventions, like the trick stilt skates shown above.
